Rocket Specifications

CHASSIS

The chassis is a fully triangulated steel space-frame which was designed by qualified structural engineers to provide a stiff and strong structure to the Department of Transports requirements of 4000 Nm per degree. Various designs of Roll Protection Bars are available as optional extras.

BRAKES

Car Discs all round with optional 4 pot front calipers, vented, grooved & cross drilled discs.

POWER

Ford Zetec 1800cc 4 cylinder transverse mounted unit mated to a 5 speed manual transmission. This unit can be tuned up to 175 bhp but the standard 1.8 will propel the car to 60 in under 5 seconds so don't be too hasty on opting for tuning upgrades, this is a light car which means free power.

Ford Duratec 2000cc 4 cylinder transverse mounted unit mated to a 5 speed manual transmission. This unit can be tuned up to 300 bhp

DONOR

A Focus will provide the following donor components:

Engine and Transmission (1600, 1800 or 2000cc).

Drive shaft and front hubs. Radiator and Fan (non aircon). Engine mounts, fuel pump & fuel gauge sender. Number plate lights, bolts & fixings, header tank, brake fluid reservoir with flexi brake pipes. Diagnostic port. Steering column, switch gear, ignition lock & wheel ECU, complete with engine bay, wiring loom & sensors Rear calipers & discs (subject to Focus Model) Hand Brake, Gear Lever Cables Exhaust Manifold, Seat Belts, Wheels & Tyres.

STANDARD KIT - $ 9,150 Plus GST

Tubular space frame chassis. Front and rear wishbones complete with bushes and ball joints.
Rear uprights to take donor drive shafts, hubs, bearings and brakes. Rear alloy bulkhead, fly screen, centre console, engine cover. Alloy sheet for floor, front and rear bulkhead. 7 piece GRP set in your colour choice including mounting brackets for wings.

3 piece grill set, Alloy radiator pipes (for front mounted radiator).
Kit now includes alloy front uprights and hubs and a new steering rack !

OPTIONAL EXTRAS

  • Department of Transport Compliant Body Nose 
  • Seats GRP black or to match body colour (pair bucket type)

Savings can be made over the standard prices if you're on a tight budget. Choose to fit used seats, modify the donor exhaust or source a lower cost lighting set. You may buy only the items you need from a breaker's yard rather than a complete car. Your total budget should be around Approx. $25,000.

Fully Built From approximately $38,000 Plus GST

Brand new on the road price fitted with 2000cc engine.
You can choose from a selection of wheel/tyre options, then choose the colour of the chassis and the body panel colour.
We will put the vehicle through the required road tests before our own pre delivery inspection.

Build time is currently 12-18 weeks but a definite delivery time will be given at the time of order.

Deposit 50% payable at the time of order but prior to final build spec.

We can build you turn key cars from 115bhp to 300bhp depending on your budget.

F.A.Q

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE ME TO BUILD MY CAR?

It will probably take longer to strip the donor than it will to build the new vehicle. It's not a race though and it's very rewarding seeing your work coming together in the knowledge that it's going to last for many years longer than most cars. Allow a year in your spare time or about 4 weeks full time and that should do it.

DO I NEED ANY SPECIAL TOOLS?

Not really, a good set of normal garage tools will suffice. No welding or fabrication is needed, just a bit of cutting but a long ¾ inch bar will come in handy if the donor's fairly rusty.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST TO INSURE?

The same as any other road registered vehicle for the category.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I NEED HELP WITH THE BUILD?

We can always help, whether you need advice over the phone or fax or email, or if you need a picture of a certain area. We can also help with the build or just part of it, such as the wiring if you have problems, but if you follow our guidance you should be fine.

CAN MY WORK BE CHECKED UPON COMPLETION?

Yes of course, we can give it a full going over and remedy any small errors free of charge.

We can also arrange Signatory Engineer inspection and reports for DPI requirements prior to road registration.

HOW WILL I REGISTER THE VEHICLE ONCE COMPLETED?

First you need a DPI approval to build which we can assist you with. Then you will require an Signatory Engineers inspection and report which you will need to submit to the DPI prior to final DPI inspection. This can all be arranged through our factory Signatory Engineer.
